Predictions contest update

11 May 2007

Whoops!!!

Looks like we never thought of this when we started running the predictions contest on the web site. Because the competition takes all first team fixtures into account, it's gone and added the two playoff semi-finals in as well and that was only intended to happen if there was a tie for first place. Which there isn't. Unfortunately there isn't an easy way to stop that from happening - not in time for the weekend's game, anyway.

So the true winner of this tears contest is Brad, manager of panache fantasy football, whatever the table may say over the next few weeks. But don't stop reading just yet!! Brad lost out on the title last year by a single point, which makes his win this year even better deserved - congratulations, Brad, and we'll be in touch to sort out your prize soon.

Now, the idea was to close the contest there, but - sharp as a box of tacks - a whole bunch of you have gone and spotted the extra fixtures and entered your predictions already. So here's the deal: if you can get the results of all the playoff games spot on, giving the correct numbers of goals for and against in all the games (two or three, depending how far we get) you'll win a prize. Exactly what it is depends on how many people win it and how charitable we're feeling after the end of the last playoff game, but you'll definitely get something! Remember that in all games it's still the result after normal time that you need to get - extra time and penalties are irrelevant.

You might notice that you can't enter any more teams now in a bid to cover every possible combination of results! We're generous... but we're not that generous.
