The BOING Predictions Contest 2010 / 2011

August 2010

Right, sorry for the delay - it's been a busy few months here at BOING Towers. Those are exactly the same words we used last year and things haven't got any better! Anyway, the predictions contest for the 2010/2011 season is now open for entries so you've got less than a week to get 'em in. Again, the first game is a late kickoff for our first outing on ESPN, so you've got most of Saturday to get your entry in for the first match.

Playing the contest is simple. To sign up, you will need to be registered as a user on the BOING site - you'll be prompted to either log in or register at the appropriate point - and then just enter the contest by specifying a team name. Once entered, you can access the list of games included in the contest and enter your predicted numbers of goals for and against West Bromwich Albion. Predictions can be updated any time up till kickoff to take account of last minute team changes, injuries and signings, and you'll need to bear in mind that Cup games count too - so keep an eye on extra fixtures appearing in the list throughout the season. Bear in mind that in Cup games it's the result after 90 minutes that matters, regardless of extra time and penalties.

This year, following one or two suggestions, we've made a very subtle change to the scoring system. You still get two points for getting the right result (win, draw or lose), one point for the correct number of goals scored and one point for the correct number conceded - but the fifth and final point comes from correctly predicting the goal difference. If you got the first three right it won't make any difference as you'll still score five points, but it does give you the chance to pick up an extra point in some games where you might not have done before.

Apologies to Ade Sherwood, last season's winner, who we haven't had a chance to reply to yet! Despite entering a game late, Ade still managed to win the contest - though just by a single point.

As ever, if you have any questions or problems, just get in touch through the Contact Us page and we'll do what we can to help. If you're unable to enter your prediction for some reason, send it through the Contact Us page before kickoff with your team name - but please make it clear who you're predicting to score what instead of just saying "2-1" or something.

Good luck!
