Brendan Clegg:

How about that then? We Tony Mowbray’d Tony Mowbray! It certainly brought back memories of his fallible but extremely enjoyable championship winning side.

And, while we made a right mess of some stuff, you can’t help but love a team that’s come back from behind twice in a week, that runs like mad and never gives in, and that finds a way. It was probably the first time in nearly a decade where most fans stayed in the stadium until the final whistle - accepting the delays and nightmares to get away after.

On the lineup I thought it was a bold and possibly wrong call to leave out Diakite, especially with Phillips not in the team either. In any championship game you need one of them - personally I would still play both - but without either of them we are just too weak at set plays and not nasty enough.

I felt that was proved in what was a strange first half. We looked like we could score every time we went forward yet found ourselves quickly two down… the first was a shambles really, Price trying to be too clever and holding the ball too long before playing it to Pereira who was then guilty of the same, our defence backed off too much and it was a very similar opener to Moore’s on Tuesday night.

The second was a bit unlucky but also if either Phillips or Diakite start we win the first ball and it doesn’t happen. For me, it also came from a corner we’d never have conceded had Rabby not gone down weakly and then spent ages rolling around for no good reason.

In between those Molumby missed a sitter, wildly swiping at one and hitting the post when any level of composure would have seen him score.

We looked creative though and I still felt we could win it.

Stewart’s goal will do him good - although Rabby should have done better there too - and despite Collyer going off (he was our best player at that point) we kept the pressure on and might have equalised before half time but for more painful lack of quality in the box - Molumby’s header being one example.

In the second half we were utterly dominant. I thought if Collyer was good then Diakite was even better, and Molumby really looked to atone for his misses by taking responsibility and driving us forward.

Our relentless attacks saw us draw level via a penalty… I thought it was in real life and even slowed down you have to ask what was the defender doing? Price’s Panenka effort was no good for my heart.

We freshened it up with subs and just as it looked like we were out of time we found a way with a really good left footed cross by Molumby nodded back across goal by Heggebø for The Horn to bundle home.

The subs make the head coach look like a genius but, as with Tuesday, they won us the game and credit where it’s due.

We’re outperforming where I think we are but these results will really help belief, and as a fan you won’t get a more entertaining game than that!

  • O’Leary - 7 I liked the quick throws. No chance with the goals.
  • Pereira - 6 Tough game. He’ll have never played a 3 game week like that before so it’s learning - but he got better as it went on.
  • Mepham - 6 Pretty good for most of it.
  • Campbell - 6 Poor start but recovered well.
  • Styles - 7 Kept raiding down the left and always kept the ball alive.
  • Price - 6 Struggled on the right actually but never stopped running.
  • Molumby - 7 Lacked composure but there was big redemption in his 2nd half showing.
  • Collyer - 7 looked really classy. Injury is a blow.
  • Rabby - 6 Potential is all there but needs to toughen up.
  • Morgan - 5 Going through a bit of a dip but he’ll come good again. Little impact.
  • Stewart - 7 Some nice touches and great that he’s off the mark.
  • Diakite - 8 We can’t not play him on this form.
  • Whitwell - 5 Also just dipped a bit as young players do.
  • Heggebø - 6 Sloppy but big contribution with the header.
  • Phillips - 6 Solid.
  • The Horn - May have only had one touch but who cares?!

I’m missing the Preston game and will be on a flight to Cape Town so looking forward to reading thoughts from others!
