Man U in for Kuszczak?

07 July 2006

Today's Daily Mail reports that Manchester United are taking interest in Albion's Pole In Goal, Tomasz Kuszczak, and that they are bidding ?2 million to take him to Old Trafford.

The report adds that Bryan Robson is not keen to let him go without getting some players in return and that he is interested in signing Kieran Richardson and Giuseppe Rossi from United.

Whether those players would agree to such an exchange remains to be seen...

Elsewhere, local press suggests that Steve Watson will be signing a new deal to stay at the club following relegation, and that Kanu won't be. There seems to be less news surrounding the future of Kevin Campbell.

Update, 11 July

Further reports are indicating that United have upped the ante and raised their offer to ?4 million, which would seem hard to resist. Albion are being linked with a potential replacement in 35 year old Swiss International Pascal Zuberbuehler, who played in goal for their recent World Cup campaign.

One player we won't be seeing again this season is Liverpool keeper Chris Kirkland, who has just signed a season-long loan deal with Wigan Athletic. Their manager, Paul Jewell, observed that "If Chris can stay injury-free then he'll be a great signing for us". We seem to have heard those words somewhere before...
