New Dutch Defender?

02 July 2008

No official confirmation on this one, but according to Wikipedia we already have a new defender in our squad:

"Gianni Zuiverloon (born December 30, 1986 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch football defender, who signed a 3-year contract in July 2008 to his current club West Bromwich Albion."

Now we know it's not always the most reliable source, especially as it shows him wearing the number 2 shirt, but it does go on to say that he is a regular in the Dutch Under 21 side and was named in the 'UEFA Team of the tournament' after his side won the European U21 Championship.

We await further news - or Wikipedia being 'corrected'...

Update

Local media are also reporting the signing and adding that Albion have paid ?3.2 million, handing him a three year contract with an extra years option in their favour. Still no official confirmation, but the BBC Web site says that Albion are due to complete the signing this week and that he's at the Hawthorns for a medical today (Wednesday).
