Farina recalls van Blerk

02 June 2000

Socceroo Coach Frank Farina has added West Bromwich Albion wing-back Jason van Blerk to his squad, for the upcoming 3 match series against Paraguay. The inclusion of van Blerk, who recently made his comeback to the national team in games in Chile and the Czech Republic, will compensate for players unable to immediately join the Squad, due to NSL finals commitments or otherwise. Earlier this week, Under-23 and South Melbourne defender Con Blatsis was forced to withdraw from the squad, due to a calf injury.

The Socceroos goe into camp this Sunday, with the first open training session to be held Monday morning (10.00am) at St Paul?s College (University Of Sydney campus), Broadway. The three-matches are set down for June 9 (Sydney Football Stadium), June 12 (The Gabba), and June 15 (Colonial Stadium).

Immediately following this Series, Farina will announce a 20-man squad for the Oceania Cup, which doubles as the Confederations Cup Qualifier, in Tahiti, beginning June 20.
