Summary:

Caretaker manager James Shan made it two wins out of two as Albion narrowed the gap on the automatic promotion spots with a win at Brentford.

The starting lineup was a mixture of old and new, with Chris Brunt and James Morrison in midfield and winger Kyle Edwards, an Academy graduate who's worked with Shan since the age of 8, starting his first game in the front of a 4-3-3 alongside Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez.

And it was Edwards who won the points with the only goal of the game, a stunning effort when he cut in from the right, went past two defenders and sent the keeper the wrong way from close range. But equal praise has to go to Sam Johnstone for a whole series of fine saves to keep Albion in the game during a first half where they failed to get a shot on target.

Will Shan still be in charge for next Friday night's visit of Birmingham?
