Summary:

Albion made it three misses in a row from the penalty spot as they lost an early lead to draw at Bournemouth. In what was probably their last good chance of three points this season, Tony Pulis named an unchanged side from the one that lost to West Ham with two youngsters, Tyler Roberts and Sam Field, on the bench - though neither saw any action in the game itself.

Salomon Rondon gave Albion the lead with a great downward header from a Jonny Evans cross after good approach work by Jonathan Leko. Albion spurned several chances to increase their lead, the worst of which came in the form of a penalty in first half added time after Craig Dawson was fouled in the box, Craig Gardner seeing his spot kick saved low in the corner.

Bournemouth made changes at half time and got back into the game when Andy Ritchie prodded home from a long throw that Albion failed to deal with. The point saw Albion drop to fifteenth place in the table with one game left.

Steve Fereday:

David Moyes, Brendan Rodgers or Tony Pulis??

Don't be careful what you wish for.

Baggyjon:

Well, we live to fight another season. Fighting spirit and organisation has brought us through although our lack of quality especially in the middle of the park, plus an ageing squad (or should I say a squad that has members well past their sell by date), and a significant lack of pace will, I fear, mean that we shall not survive next season unless the squad is revitalised.

Pulis deserves another season, at least, but Peace will have to back him. Rondon needs support. I know he has missed a few but to score 9 goals with the meagre scraps is remarkable.

Our missed penalties have cost us 6 points or at least £4 million at £1.3 million a place assuming 48 points puts us in 12th place.

Jonathan Leko is a revelation. He already has the poise and pace of a young Laurie Cunningham and the clubs efforts to keep him will define the clubs future ambition.

Don't forget the Villa will probably play Albion 4 times next season - Burton Albion and Brighton and Hove Albion. Be grateful for where we are.
