Summary:

Albion's hopes of ending the season on a high were ended by a four-goal blast from Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Despite starting with a full strength lineup, they were unable to contain Theo Walcott. who gave the home side the lead in just the fourth minute with an unstoppable strike from the edge of the area.

Poor defending ten minutes later allowed him to double the lead with a simple tap-in before Jack Wilshere made it three-nil in the seventeenth minute with another fine strike. Walcott completed his hattrick eight minutes before the break with another tap-in, courtesy of a Santi Cazorla cross.

Albion pulled one back when Gareth McAuley headed home from a Chris Brunt corner twelve minutes into the second half, but that completed the scoring. They finish the season on 44 points and in thirteenth place, six points and four places above local rivals Aston Villa.

Kev Buckley:

What would Tony do?

Number two in a series of possibly more than one (this one made in the absence of any reports on the game so far)

You are the manager of WBA and your matchday squad has the same starting XI who beat the champions, vis.:

Myhill;
Dawson, McAuley, Olsson, Lescott;
McManaman, Fletcher, Yacob, Morrison, Brunt;
Berahino.

and the subs are: Palmer, Baird, Gamboa, Gardner, Anichebe, Ideye, Roberts.

By the 37th minute you are 4-0 down, although by the 51st minute you have brought on Anichebe for Olsson, and Gardner for McManaman and may now be, possibly:

Myhill;
Dawson, McAuley, Lescott, Brunt;
Morrison, Fletcher, Yacob, Gardner;
Berahino, Anichebe.

or maybe:

Myhill;
Dawson, McAuley, Lescott;
Gardner, Fletcher, Morrison, Yacob, Brunt;
Berahino, Anichebe.

Your unused subs are: Palmer, Baird, Gamboa, Ideye, Roberts.

By the hour mark, having scored from a set piece, you are still three goals behind in a game that has little relevance, do you:

a) Bring on an attacker, Ideye, or a some pace out wide, Gamboa, or give a youngster a run out

b) Straight swap Yacob for Baird

Now that you have made your choice, ask yourself:

what would Tony do?
