Mark Koppel:

I think today did really demonstrate how we still need sign new players this week and that without them, as good as Pulis is, he will have a tough job keeping West Brom up this season.

Don't forget we played a mid table Championship Team, who rested key players, and we really struggled, especially in the second half. Up to then we were quite comfortable with 2 soft goals from a Birmingham perspective.

Then we had the Norman Wisdom Horror Show. He has improved but all season he has played too narrow and fails to stop crosses. In the space of 2 seconds he managed to commit both offences. Allowed Lloyd Dyer to remain unmarked, when Norman himself was marking no one, and then let Dyer's cross go through his legs. This crime was even worse given the timing and gave Blues the impetus that Albion struggled to cope with second half.

Player ratings today:

  • Myhill 7 - Quiet until he came out bravely to cover for Norman who was ball watching AGAIN.
  • Wisdom 2 - After recent improvements got taken to the cleaners today by both the old Lloyd Dyer and then the young Demari Grey.
  • McAuley 6 - Solid without being spectacular.
  • Lescott 6 - Out of position at left back. Maybe that is why he did give the ball away today.
  • Dawson 7 - Actually thought he played ok today. His long distribution to Vic today was measured and accurate. Also all his tackles were hard and well timed.
  • Yacob 8 - Probably the most improved player under Pulis so far. Put in a few crucial challenges.
  • Brunt 4 - Just like against Hull and Everton, constantly gave the ball away. He gave the ball away 6 times in the first 19 minutes. To his credit he does pass forward at times which helped set up the first goal.
  • Gardner 5 - Very quiet today, perhaps he really still is a Blues Fan!
  • Sick Vic 7 - Showed with his goals what he could do if he ever gets fit. As Pulis recognised, he ran out of steam and less led to The Flop.
  • Berahino 6 - Quiet today but dod set up both goals.
  • Sess 5 - Flapped about again today with little cutting edge.

Subs:

  • Baird 4 - Hardly did a thing
  • Brown 'No' Ideye 3 - What are we going to do with the £10million Flop? Only had to go one thing today and play Brunt in which he overhit.
  • Foster 8 - Superb toady with 2 brilliant saves from Grey.
