Summary:

Albion's winning run came to an end with defeat at Anfield, but their hosts had to work hard for the result. Cristian Gamboa was the only change to the starting lineup because of Andre Wisdom's ineligibility to play against his parent club.

Adam Lallana put the home side ahead just before half time when he played a one-two with Ricky Lambert and fired home, but Saido Berahino equalised from the spot early in the second half after being fouled just inside the box.

Jordan Henderson restored Liverpool's lead five minutes later when the ball fell to him in the box and he fired into the top corner of the net. Both sides created further chances but neither managed to score.

Steve Fereday:

Signs are very good. This side is taking shape. Berahino is looking very special. Squad is strong. So many positives. Like Gamboa. Credit to the manager, or coach, or whatever he is. Let's go and beat Bournemouth and get a home draw for the next round, and then I will apologise to that bloke on here when I said not in my unborn grandkids lifetime will we win anything again.....

Didcot Baggie:

£47 for a ticket for a seat with the sort of view you must get looking out of a letter box! Not helped by having Smethwick's version of the Mitchell Brothers stand up for the whole game in front of me...

Anyway... from what I saw of the game Albion played well and on another day might have taken a point. Irvine has got them playing a fast passing game in midfield but not neglecting keeping possession when needed. Lescott again showed class touches and the rest of the back four played well. Mozza and Dozza have had better games and we may see Mulumbu come back to the starting up line up soon. Perhaps worth trying Blanco too soon. Samaras again looked well off the pace when he came on - a better touch could have set up Sess for a late equalizer. Saido is back on song up front as is Sess.

Bring on Man U!
